PRESS RELEASE
Immediate Release: 15th July 2009

Children’s Holiday Club Attracts Hundreds

Thame Showground will be flooded with children of all ages next week, as over 600 children have booked on to the largest children’s holiday club in Thame.

Now in its second year Lighthouse Thame helps local children to get their summer off to a great start with a full programme of events between 10 am – 3.30 pm, including sports, drama, craft, songs and bible reading. There is something for everyone with a dedicated marquee from 10.15am-12.30pm for parents and toddlers. Everyday concludes with a great get together in the ‘Lighthouse Thame Big Top’ where one of the leaders is gunged and activities close with some super songs with plenty of actions.

“This year we have also added an event for the elderly on Tuesday and Thursday where we will be entertaining a number of elderly people in Thame”, says Angela Willson.

Yet, it doesn’t end there, every evening there is a special event for the youth begins with Halo:gen activities laid on for young people. “We have some awesome games, engaging speakers, live bands, barbeques and giant a inflatable evening,” said Pete Stratton, Barley Hill Church Youth Leader.

Lighthouse Thame is run through a partnership of local churches and this year over 300 volunteers have signed up to help. “We had some terrific feedback last year and volunteers from over 16 Churches have worked really hard to make sure this year’s event is even bigger and better. We now hope that Lighthouse Thame will have a permanent place in the diary of major local events. It was brilliant to see so many people working together in the community,” said Linda Newton, Chair of Lighthouse Thame.
